Agartala, May 13, 2025: The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, in partnership with the Transport and Tourism Department of Tripura, will host a “Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Camp” to strengthen emergency reserves across the State.
A high-level preparatory meeting was convened on Tuesday at the State Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister Sushanta Chowdhury to chalk out strategies for the upcoming event. Key officials including UK Chakma, Secretary of Tourism, Director Prashanta Badal Negi, Transport Commissioner Subrata Chowdhury, Special Secretary of Food and Civil Supplies Debapriya Vardhan, and Director Sumit Lodh participated in the discussions.
Minister Chowdhury, addressing the meeting, emphasized the state’s proactive approach in ensuring that blood banks remain adequately stocked, especially during medical emergencies. “Tripura has made remarkable progress in promoting voluntary blood donation, transforming it into a social celebration of compassion and service,” he stated.
He highlighted that since the BJP-led government assumed office, the culture of blood donation has evolved significantly, with public participation turning the act into a festive and community-driven tradition. The state currently meets its annual requirement of 40,000 blood units through voluntary contributions.
“Tripura has become a model for others by demonstrating how collective action can address critical healthcare needs. Our goal is self-sufficiency in blood reserves, and the people have embraced this mission wholeheartedly,” Chowdhury added.
Officials noted that the date, venue, and participation details for the camp will be announced shortly. They called upon citizens to continue their support in this life-saving initiative, reaffirming the government’s commitment to health and welfare.
