Agartala, December 11, 2025: Security across the Tripura capital has been intensified ahead of the December 12 closing ceremony of the Unity Promo Fest 2025, which is expected to draw one of the season’s biggest crowds.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday, after inspecting preparations at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, the main venue, said the police and administration were treating the event as a high-priority operation. “We don’t want any disturbance,” he stated, emphasising that all arrangements were being monitored closely.
Officials said CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the venue, while police personnel and volunteers in plain clothes will monitor the crowd. Additional forces will also be deployed at strategic points across the city. Chowdhury added that senior officials from the police and tourism departments accompanied the inspection to ensure “no issues” arise for the Chief Minister, cabinet members, or other dignitaries attending the programme.
The closing ceremony is anticipated to witness a heavy footfall, with Bollywood singer Jubin Nautiyal headlining the event and Tripura Tourism brand ambassador Sourav Ganguly scheduled to make an appearance. Demand for entry passes has surpassed expectations, the minister said, noting that people “are demanding more” and expressing hope that the turnout may set “a new record.”
Chowdhury said final arrangements are underway under strict supervision of the police and district administration. “We want to cooperate with the police and don’t want any confrontation,” he added.
The minister later chaired a final review meeting at the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation office in the Palace Compound, where senior departmental officials assessed overall preparedness for what is expected to be a major showcase event for the state.
