Agartala, February 18, 2026: Emphasising women’s empowerment and the need for safe, dignified workplaces, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy addressed a state-level training workshop on the SHe-Box portal held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala city on Wednesday.

Speaking at the programme, Roy explained that the SHe-Box (Sexual Harassment electronic Box) portal, developed by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, serves as a centralized digital mechanism for registering and monitoring workplace sexual harassment complaints under the PoSH Act, 2013. He said the recently upgraded version of the portal is more user-friendly and enables effective tracking of complaints from both organised and unorganised sectors.

Highlighting the government’s broader vision, Roy said that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, sustained efforts are being made to make women self-reliant. “In Tripura alone, schemes under TRLM have sanctioned nearly Rs 2,100 crore in recent years to skill and train women, enabling them to secure sustainable livelihoods,” he noted.

The minister also drew attention to new initiatives announced in the Union Budget 2026–27, including SHE Marts (Self-help Entrepreneur Marts). These community-owned retail outlets will be run by rural women’s Self Help Groups, providing them with a direct platform to sell handicrafts, agricultural produce and processed foods. He said the initiative builds on the success of the Lakhpati Didi programme, which aims to ensure an annual income of at least Rs 1 lakh for rural women.

The workshop focused on training nodal officers, HR professionals and Internal Committee members on complaint registration and tracking through the portal, legal compliance for organisations with 10 or more employees, employer responsibilities in ensuring safe workplaces, and awareness modules on identifying sexual harassment and redressal procedures.

Roy stressed that such capacity-building programmes are crucial for effective implementation of the law and for creating work environments free from fear, intimidation and discrimination.

The event was attended by Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Women, Special Secretary Tapan Kumar Das, and other senior officials.
