Agartala, August 07, 2025: Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy and Industry & Commerce Minister Santana Chakma visited the home of late truck driver Mihir Lal Debnath in Tripura’s Dasda, Barahaldi area of Kanchanpur under North district on Thursday to express condolences and offer support to his grieving family.
Mihir Lal Debnath tragically lost his life in a road accident in Teliamura. In response, the state government extended financial assistance of ₹6 lakh, which was formally handed over by the ministers to Mihir Lal’s father at their residence. North Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran, along with Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Dipak Kumar accompanied the ministers during the visit.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tinku Roy said, “No amount of wealth can replace a life, but it is our duty to ensure that the family, which has lost its sole breadwinner, does not suffer further. On behalf of the state government, we have handed over a cheque of ₹6 lakh to provide some relief.”
He further added, “We are committed to ensuring justice in this tragic incident and will continue to stand by the family in every possible way. The state government under the leadership of the Chief Minister is always committed to supporting those in need.”
Minister Santana Chakma also assured the bereaved family of continued support from the government, including social security benefits for Mihir Lal’s elderly father.
Sharing the moment on social media, Minister Roy wrote, “We pray that God grants eternal peace to Mihir Lal Debnath and gives his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
