Agartala, July 29, 2025: A shocking incident has sparked tension in the Tripura’s Tuimadhu area of Chakmaghat under Teliamura police station, where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two youths.

The accused identified as Hiran Mia of Melapathar village and Antar Mia of Tuimadhu village, reportedly abducted the minor while she was on her way to a neighborhood shop and assaulted her in a nearby litchi garden.

According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jayanta Kumar De of Teliamura police station, the incident occurred when the two youths forcibly took the girl in a car. “Hiran Mia, along with his associate Antar Mia, took the 17-year-old minor from Tuimadhu village to a litchi garden and raped her,” OC De stated.

The situation came to light when local resident Saroj Debbarma and others, searching for livestock in the area, heard the girl’s screams and intervened, causing the accused to flee.

The victim was rescued by Debbarma and others, who promptly brought her and her family to Teliamura police station to file a complaint. “A rape case number 66/2025 has been registered, and we are investigating the matter thoroughly,” said OC De.

Despite efforts to arrest the accused, both Hiran Mia and Antar Mia have gone into hiding. “The police are conducting a vigorous search to find the accused,” De added, emphasizing that such “barbaric incidents” are unacceptable in a civilized society and have drawn public outrage.

The incident has heightened tensions in the Tuimadhu area, with locals expressing concern over safety. The police continue their efforts to locate the suspects and bring them to justice.
