Agartala, February 06, 2026: The Tripura Tourism Department is pushing forward with its vision to harness the state’s rich cultural and natural heritage to build a sustainable tourism sector, generate employment, and boost overall economic growth. As part of this initiative, multiple infrastructure development projects are underway across the state.

One such project is progressing rapidly in Sonamukhi, Kailashahar subdivision of Unakoti district. Supported financially by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented under the supervision of the Tourism Department, the project aims to transform Sonamukhi into a major tourist destination.

The development includes the construction of a modern adventure park and eco-friendly accommodation facilities, featuring standard cottages, suite cottages, and deluxe cottages. Additional infrastructure such as an administrative building, manager’s quarters, staff quarters, and a well-equipped banquet hall is also being built. To ensure safety and security, boundary fencing around the project site is being installed.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited the site today to review the progress. He was accompanied by the Tourism Secretary, Director, and representatives of the construction agency. During the inspection, the minister examined detailed reports on the ongoing work and held discussions with officials.

Emphasizing timely completion and quality standards, Minister Chowdhury stated that preserving Sonamukhi’s natural beauty while enhancing tourism infrastructure will make the area more attractive to visitors and create new employment opportunities for local youth.

According to the Tourism Department, once completed, Sonamukhi will emerge as one of the most significant tourist hubs in Unakoti district. The project is expected to strengthen the local economy while contributing to the expansion of Tripura’s tourism sector.
