Agartala, June 17, 2025: In a significant step towards strengthening organ transplant services in Tripura, the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital have partnered with the Mohan Foundation, a leading national organization promoting organ donation and transplantation.

The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 17, 2025, to formalize the collaboration. As part of the agreement, Mohan Foundation has designated Vincent Debbarma as the state project manager for Tripura. He officially joined the initiative on June 1 and is currently undergoing specialized training.

To facilitate smooth operations, the Mohan Foundation has been allotted a dedicated space within the AGMC and GBP Hospital campus. An additional transplant coordinator is expected to be appointed shortly to further strengthen the team.

Foundation officials are scheduled to visit Agartala in the last week of June to conduct training sessions and awareness programmes for doctors and nurses at the hospital, aiming to enhance capacity and readiness for organ transplant procedures.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to establish a steering committee in coordination with the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTO)-Tripura. The committee will oversee transplant-related activities and ensure a structured approach to increasing the number of transplants performed in the state.
