Agartala, August 25, 2025: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the CPI(M), branding it an “Emergency Party” and accusing the Left of pushing Tripura into decline during its decades-long rule.

Speaking at a sports event in Kumarghat under Unakoti district, Deb alleged that despite ruling for 35 years, the CPI(M) did little for the welfare of the people. “Their leaders were ill-minded, always making assurances but ultimately destroying the state. That is why I call them the Emergency Party — they have been a permanent emergency for Tripura,” he said.

Deb further claimed that the Left government never encouraged youth in sports and failed to provide necessary infrastructure, citing the struggles faced by Padma Shri awardee gymnast Dipa Karmakar as an example.

“Communists never wanted development—neither of the people, nor of the state, nor of the country. On the other hand, I dedicate only an hour to myself and spend the rest of my time serving the people. With good intentions and under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura can achieve new heights,” he said.

The BJP leader also underlined that while political parties are necessary, the saffron party draws its strength from Indian culture, Sanatan values, and traditions. Urging the youth to stay active, he added, “Youngsters should engage in sports and exercise to lead a healthy life.”
