Agartala, May 22, 2026: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP from West Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, on Friday announced that the Union Ministry of Railways has approved the regular operation of the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special train following his request and considering the convenience of the general public.

As per the approval, Train No. 01666/01665, which was earlier running as a special service, will now operate regularly as the 11666/11665 Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express with immediate effect.

According to Deb, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw formally conveyed the decision through an official letter.

Welcoming the move, Biplab Kumar Deb expressed gratitude to the Railway Ministry and said the regularization of the train service would greatly benefit passengers travelling between Tripura and central India.

“In accordance with our discussions, I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude—on behalf of all the residents of Tripura as well as personally—to Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw for authorizing the regular operation of the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special train,” Deb stated.

The development is expected to improve rail connectivity for Tripura and provide greater convenience to passengers commuting on the route regularly.
