Agartala, July 29, 2025: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and current Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for the significant progress being made on various highway development projects in Tripura.

Deb thanked Gadkari for ensuring that the ongoing works are being executed swiftly and with adherence to quality standards. He also appreciated the Ministry’s prompt response to the urgent demand for repairs to flood-damaged roads in the state.

The appreciation comes in response to a letter issued by the Union Minister on July 25, in which Gadkari acknowledged delays in certain projects due to land acquisition challenges, force majeure conditions, and underperformance by some EPC contractors. The letter also confirmed that retendering and reallocation processes have been undertaken where needed.

Gadkari informed that following the August 2024 floods, which caused severe damage to both State and National Highway infrastructure in Tripura, NHIDCL initiated immediate restoration and emergent repair work. A committee from NHIDCL headquarters, along with NIT Agartala and DPR consultants, assessed the damage and proposed plans for permanent restoration. EPC contractors were also engaged to carry out repair works within their scope.

The Union Minister assured that appropriate decisions regarding the notification of the Kamalpur-Ambassa-Gandatwisa-Amarpur-Santirbazar stretch as a National Highway would be taken in accordance with prevailing guidelines.
