Agartala, February 05, 2026: Panic spread in Kallikhola ADC Village under Tripura’s Jatrapur police station after the body of a young woman worker was found hanging inside her quarters at a local brick kiln on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Swapna Tikka (22), a resident of Jharkhand. Her husband, Jagannath Kujur (24), also works at the same kiln. Both were known among fellow workers as “Ranchi labourers.”

According to reports, the BMI brick kiln employs around 85 workers, including 52 men and women from Jharkhand. Manager Sanjay Naha stated that as usual, workers left for duty at dawn. When Swapna did not appear, other women workers began searching for her.

They discovered her room locked from inside. After breaking open the wooden door, Swapna was found hanging from an iron rod in the roof with a white nylon rope. The sight triggered wailing among the women workers, drawing others from the worksite.

Manager Naha, along with kiln owners MD Kamal Hossain, Rajesh Debnath and Nazrul Islam, immediately informed Jatrapur police. Officers arrived around 8 a.m., conducted an inquiry, and sent the body to Kathalia Social Health Centre for post-mortem examination.

Authorities said the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy, while police continue to investigate whether it was suicide or if other circumstances were involved.
