Tripura: Newlywed Couple Killed in Scooty-Car Collision After Temple Visit in Kamalasagar

Agartala, August 18, 2025: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a young couple Dibakar Ghosh and his wife Priyanka Ghosh, while they were returning home after offering prayers at the Kasbeshwari Maa temple in Kamalasagar under Sepahijala District on Sunday.

According to police, the accident took place near the Gokulnagar TSR camp when Dibakar, riding a scooty bearing registration number TR01AW-9205 with his wife, collided head-on with an Suzuki Ecco vehicle.

Locals said that the couple, who had gone to the temple along with Dibakar’s parents and aunt in two separate vehicles, were heading towards Bishalgarh boat ghat before returning home. Moments later, Dibakar’s father, Phatik Ghosh, spotted a crowd gathered at the accident site. On rushing to the spot, he found his son and daughter-in-law lying on the road with severe injuries.

Personnel from the nearby TSR camp immediately shifted Dibakar to Tripura Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital, Hapania, while Priyanka was taken to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. However, doctors at both hospitals declared them dead on arrival.

Bishalgarh Police Station staff reached the hospital shortly after and registered a case. The bodies have been sent for autopsy, and will be handed over to the family after post-mortem formalities are completed.

Dibakar Ghosh, the only son of Phatik Ghosh was employed at Tripura Grameen Bank in Belonia, while Priyanka was the only daughter in her family. Their sudden deaths have cast a pall of grief over the death entire area, where both families reside.
