Tripura OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma Meets Union Secretary in New Delhi, Seeks Enhanced Support for OBC Development

Agartala, November 13, 2025: Tripura’s Minister for OBC Welfare, Smt. Santana Chakma, held a meeting on Thursday with the Union Secretary, Department of OBC Welfare, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at Shastri Bhavan, New Delhi to discuss measures aimed at strengthening welfare initiatives for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community.

Speaking about the meeting, Minister Chakma said, “We discussed the initiatives to increase post-matric and pre-matric scholarship assistance and various schemes for OBC students pursuing higher education to bridge the socio-economic gap.”

She added that the discussions also focused on “extensive support for the development of the OBC community, inclusive growth, and creation of equitable opportunities, including various developmental action plans of the department.”

According to the Minister, the Union Secretary responded positively and assured “prompt consideration and necessary steps towards social welfare and nation building.”

Expressing gratitude for the support received, Smt. Chakma said, “I am grateful for his support and dedication in empowering marginalized communities.”

Reaffirming her commitment to the vision of inclusive growth, she further stated, “My office and I are fully committed to working with the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of our state, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, towards the implementation of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and building a just and equitable society where every citizen has the opportunity to prosper.”
