Tripura: PG Courses Introduced In 6 Colleges; More Six Universities Coming In 2023

Agartala, November 16, 2022: The Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Tuesday noted that the Higher Education sector will be revamped next year with the opening of more educational institutions.

Nath introduced PG courses in six general degree colleges at the premises of Matangini Pritilata Hall, Women’s College here in Agartala city. He was accompanied by Tripura Board of Higher Education Chairman Professor Arunoday Saha, Higher Education department Director NC Sharma, Women’s College Principal Dr Manidipa Debbarma and others.

Addressing the ceremony, Education minister Nath said that currently 25 degree colleges are functioning in the state and among them, 21 colleges have been brought under NAAC while Triple IT, National Forensic Science University, National Law University, English Medium College have been launched.

“In the forthcoming academic session i.e. next year, women’s university will be opened, Buddhist University to be opened at Sabroom. Moreover, initiatives have been taken to open 4 more private universities in the state”, he added.

He said “The state government is working with the motive of making ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura’ and accordingly, the government has started the work of developing future generations from the classroom. Students should study with a competitive mindset.”

Initiating various measures for promoting quality education, Nath said “PG courses in English and Bengali have been launched in 6 colleges today. The government has given priority to make the students of the state competent in all India competition. The country is moving towards development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state should also move forward with other states of the country.”

Nath further added Shatabdi Majumder, a student from Teliamura, became an IAS under ‘Lakshya’ scheme while many more students are undergoing training in IAS, IPS, IFS courses under this scheme.

Speaking at the event, Higher Education Director NC Sharma in his welcome address said that there are 100 seats in Bengali and 100 in English in the postgraduate course.

It is to be noted here that the 6 colleges which have started postgraduate courses today are MBB College, Women’s College, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar College at Belonia, Netaji Subhash Chandra Smriti Mahavidyalay at Udaipur, Ramakrishna Mahavidyalay at Kailashahar and Dharmanagar College.
