Agartala, June 03, 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday asserted that Tripura possesses vast potential for industrial expansion, which could play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s economy and generating employment opportunities in the years ahead.
Addressing a meeting of the Governing Body of the Investment Promotion Agency of Tripura (IPAT) at the Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister said industrial development would not be limited to urban centres but would also contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of people residing in remote and tribal-dominated regions of the state.
The meeting began with a comprehensive presentation by Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte, who outlined Tripura’s industrial prospects and highlighted sectors that are drawing the attention of prospective investors. He also informed the Chief Minister about emerging investment opportunities and the state’s efforts to attract new industries.
During the deliberations, participants discussed proposals for establishing new industrial units and explored measures to further strengthen Tripura’s investment-friendly environment. Special emphasis was placed on harnessing the state’s abundant natural resources, including rubber, bamboo and tea, to promote sustainable industrial growth.
The meeting also stressed the importance of maintaining ecological balance while pursuing industrialisation, ensuring that development remains environmentally responsible.
Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Chief Minister’s OSD Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, along with secretaries and senior officials from various departments, attended the meeting.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to investment-led growth, Dr. Saha said the state would continue to create a conducive business environment aimed at ensuring inclusive and sustainable development for all sections of society.
