Tripura Police Achieve Success in Anti-Drug Operation, 1,440 Yaba Tablets Seized; One Arrested

Agartala, February 10, 2026: Amarpur police achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing anti-drug operation with the arrest of a drug dealer and the seizure of a large quantity of Yaba tablets. Acting on specific intelligence inputs received from reliable secret sources, the police carried out a well-coordinated operation and recovered 1,440 Yaba tablets.

Subdivision Police Officer (SDPO) Nirman Das informed that Amarpur Birganj Police Station had received credible information that some individuals were heading towards Amarpur from the Udaipur side carrying a substantial consignment of narcotics. Taking the information seriously, the police immediately devised an operational plan and launched a crackdown.

A special police team from Amarpur Birganj Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge Sukramani Debbarma, intensified surveillance in the identified areas. As part of the operation, naka points were set up at strategic locations, including Thakchhara Naka Point and the Birbal Daspara area.

During the naka checking, the police noticed suspicious movement and detained one individual. Upon conducting a thorough search, the police recovered 1,440 Yaba tablets from his possession. The arrested person was later identified as Palash Ghosh, a resident of the Amarpur subdivision. The seized narcotic tablets were confiscated on the spot following due legal procedure.

Police sources stated that after preliminary interrogation, efforts are underway to gather further information regarding other persons involved in the drug network. Investigators are also probing the source of the seized Yaba tablets and the intended destination where the contraband was supposed to be supplied.

The police confirmed that a case will be registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, and Palash Ghosh will be produced before the court. The police administration has assured that such anti-drug operations will be intensified further to curb drug trafficking in Amarpur and its surrounding areas.
