Agartala, June 03, 2025: In a shocking display of lawlessness, a gang of thieves brazenly stole the official vehicle of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station Shiuli Das on Monday evening triggering widespread concern over public safety.
The incident took place on the bustling Bishalgarh-Agartala road, where, according to eyewitnesses, two unidentified youths arrived on a scooty intercepted the police vehicle and assaulted the driver in full view of bystanders. After forcefully dragging him out, the duo sped away in the police car, leaving locals stunned.
As news of the daring theft spread rapidly, the police swung into action. A team led by the Additional District Superintendent of Police (ADSP) of Sepahijala district reached the spot and launched an intensive manhunt for the culprits.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing deep unease over the deteriorating security situation. “If thieves can snatch a police vehicle in broad daylight, what safety do we have?” asked a worried local shopkeeper.
Authorities have promised swift action. “We are leaving no stone unturned to trace the vehicle and arrest those responsible,” said a senior police official, while urging the public to remain vigilant.
Meanwhile, traders and residents in the area are demanding increased patrolling and stricter law enforcement to restore confidence and ensure such brazen acts are not repeated.
