Agartala, January 27, 2026: The 23rd Central Conference of the Tripura Rajya Upajati Ganamukti Parishad (TRUGMP) will be held on January 29 and 30 at Agartala Town Hall. CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat and state secretary Jitendra Choudhury are expected to attend the event, TRUGMP president Naresh Jamatia announced at a press briefing in Agartala on Tuesday.

According to Jamatia, the organization currently operates across 23 subdivisions, 157 regions, and 796 units. This year’s conference will see the participation of 550 delegates. Membership has grown significantly since 2022, rising to nearly 88,000. He noted that conferences held at primary and subdivision levels have been highly successful, with youth involvement increasing markedly this year.

The conference will formally open at 11 a.m. on January 29 at Agartala Town Hall with flag hoisting and other organizational programs. Later, at 12 noon, a public rally will be held in front of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, where Brinda Karat, Jitendra Choudhury, and other CPI(M) leaders will address the gathering.

Jamatia emphasized that the central conference aims to intensify the fight against divisive politics. Key public issues such as employment, filling vacant posts, MGNREGA implementation, and job creation will also be highlighted during the rally.
