Agartala, January 30, 2026: In a major push to strengthen rural livelihoods, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has approved ₹7.65 crore under the Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) for the purchase of 90 vehicles to be distributed among Self-Help Group (SHG) Didis across the state.

Officials said the vehicles will be handed over at a ceremonial event later this year, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to improve mobility and income opportunities for women-led collectives. The initiative is expected to benefit Cluster Level Federations (CLFs), Village Organisations (VOs), and SHG members by expanding livelihood activities and improving access to markets and essential services.

The procurement of 90 vehicles within the current financial year is aimed at creating sustainable avenues for rural women entrepreneurs. The AGEY scheme, which provides transport facilities to SHGs, is being seen as a catalyst for economic empowerment and grassroots development.

Ahead of the distribution, TRLM organised a seminar in Agartala with prospective beneficiaries, CLF Didis, and block-level staff. The session outlined the objectives of AGEY, operational guidelines, and the responsibilities of SHG members in ensuring effective use of the vehicles.

Authorities emphasised that the scheme will not only enhance livelihood activities but also strengthen the rural economy by fostering self-reliance among women.
