Agartala, February 23, 2026: In a significant step towards transforming the healthcare landscape of Tripura and the entire Northeast, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital has announced a joint venture with the renowned Sir Ganga Ram Hospital of New Delhi.

The agreement was formally signed during the recent visit of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital President Malay Pit to Delhi. The primary objective of this collaboration is to make highly advanced and specialized medical services accessible to the common people at their doorstep, reducing the need for patients from the Northeast to travel to metro cities for complex treatments.

As the first major initiative under this partnership, a team of internationally acclaimed specialist doctors from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital will visit Tripura on March 28. The expert team will consult patients and deliver advanced medical services at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital. In addition, the visiting specialists will share their vast clinical experience with medical students and local doctors, strengthening academic and professional capacity.

The medical team will include Asia’s renowned liver transplant surgeon Dr. Suresh Kumar Singhvi, Co-Director of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, along with Dr. Rahul D. Modi (Co-Director, Gynecological Oncology), Dr. Neeraj Agarwal, Dr. Rajat Chopra (Senior Orthopaedic Consultant) and Dr. Uday Monga.

Medical college authorities stated that the initiative aims to provide affordable and advanced treatment facilities, ensuring that people of the Northeast no longer need to travel outside the region for specialized care. The collaboration also seeks to develop Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Hospital into a centre of excellence with a strong focus on education, research and social service, while creating long-term mentorship and training opportunities for local doctors and medical students.

Officials expressed confidence that this collaboration will significantly strengthen Tripura’s healthcare infrastructure and give a fresh impetus to the state’s medical education ecosystem, ultimately ensuring better and more accessible healthcare services for the people.
