Agartala, March 26, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening skill development and employment opportunities, the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Skill Center Odisha on Wednesday for setting up a modern Skill Centre in the Beauty and Wellness sector at Bodhjungnagar in Agartala.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Tripura. Pinki Patnaik, Additional Secretary, Government of Odisha and COO of the World Skill Center Odisha, visited the state along with his team on the occasion, highlighting a growing inter-state collaboration in skill development.
The initiative aims to introduce high-quality training infrastructure and modern learning facilities in Tripura, enabling youth to acquire industry-relevant skills in the rapidly expanding beauty and wellness sector. The proposed centre will deliver demand-driven training aligned with both national and international standards, opening avenues for employment as well as entrepreneurship.
Officials stated that the collaboration with the World Skill Center Odisha—recognized for its global partnerships and excellence in skill training—will facilitate knowledge exchange, advanced training modules, upskilling of trainers, and adoption of best practices in candidate placement.
The upcoming International Skill Centre and Employment Hub at Hapania, along with such partnerships, is expected to position Tripura as a major hub for skilled manpower in the North Eastern region, catering to emerging sectors and global job markets.
