Agartala, August 08, 2025: In a rare display of spontaneous compassion for nature, Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen paused his journey to the Assembly on Friday morning to replant a fallen tree near the Radhanagar Bus Stand in Agartala city.

Eyewitnesses recounted how Sen, spotting the uprooted sapling, stepped out of his vehicle, gently lifted it and firmly replanted it with his own hands. The moment is simple yet symbolic, reflected his long-standing passion for environmental preservation.

“I’m a tree lover. In Dharmanagar, we’ve built strong awareness around planting and nurturing trees. When I saw the fallen sapling today, I felt it was my duty to fix it—and I did,” Sen said, speaking to reporters after the incident.

The Speaker also issued an appeal to the people of Agartala calling for shared responsibility in protecting urban greenery. “If you see something like this, please step forward. Planting trees is important, but caring for them is our collective duty,” he urged.

Environmental activists and locals lauded the Speaker’s act, noting that such visible leadership can inspire others to act. As one onlooker put it, “It’s not every day you see someone in high office stop their car just to save a tree.”

Sen’s thoughtful gesture served as a gentle reminder that small, deliberate actions can sow the seeds of a greener, more conscious community.
