Agartala, August 01, 2025: A high-alert situation took place near the India-Bangladesh border in Agartala after security forces recovered a suspicious drone in the early hours of Friday raising serious concerns about cross-border surveillance activities.

Confirming the development, Dr. Kiran Kumar K, Superintendent of Police, West Tripura district, told over the phone that the drone was found in a border-side location under sensitive jurisdiction. Notably, the device carried a visible marking reading “Made in China” and was fitted with a high-resolution camera, suggesting potential surveillance use.

Following the recovery, a joint team comprising personnel from the Tripura Police, Border Security Force (BSF), bomb disposal squad, and forensic experts swiftly launched an investigation. The area was immediately cordoned off and the drone was sent for a detailed forensic examination to detect any data, GPS trails, or concealed threats.

While officials are yet to confirm the drone’s origin or its intended purpose, intelligence sources indicate it may have been used for cross-border reconnaissance.

The incident has prompted heightened vigilance across border areas, with security agencies reviewing surveillance protocols and intensifying patrolling in sensitive zones.
