Agartala, June 30, 2025: In a significant achievement in the fight against child marriage, ten villages in Tripura’s Sepahijala district have been awarded the ‘Aspiring Child Marriage Free’ certification under the Bronze Category for successfully preventing any reported cases of child marriage in the past six months.

The recognition comes under Mission Sankalp, an initiative of the Sepahijala District Administration aimed at eliminating child marriage and teenage pregnancy through community involvement and proactive governance.

Sepahijala District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal said the district has adopted a structured certification model to acknowledge villages based on their success in remaining child marriage-free over specific periods. Villages are awarded certification in three tiers—Bronze (no reported child marriages in six months), Silver (12 months), and Gold (24 months).

“The goal is to promote accountability and sustained community action. Villages that demonstrate commitment are not only acknowledged but also motivated to reach higher levels of recognition,” Jaiswal stated.

The certification process begins with a declaration by the Gram Pradhan, verified by the Block Development Officer (BDO), followed by approval from the Sub-Divisional Task Force. Final certification is issued after a review by the District Level Task Force.

The ten villages that earned the Bronze Category certification are Promod Nagar VC, Doyarampara VC, Twima VC, JK Nagar VC, East Ratnapur VC, and West Ratnapur VC under Jampuijala RD Block; Ramnagar VC and Batharmura VC under Charilam RD Block; and Rampadapara VC and Padmininagar VC under Nalchar RD Block.

“The administration will continue encouraging villages to work towards higher certification levels. Through continuous awareness campaigns, strict monitoring, and public participation, we aim to make every village in Sepahijala a safe space for children,” Jaiswal added.
