Agartala, October 29, 2025: In a fresh crackdown on illegal immigration, plainclothes police officers detained three Bangladeshi nationals from the West Chandrapur area under Dharmanagar subdivision. According to sources, the trio had allegedly crossed the Tripura border illegally nearly six months ago.
Investigations revealed that with the help of human traffickers, the men first traveled to Bengaluru, where they reportedly paid ₹5,000 each—totaling ₹15,000—to obtain Aadhaar cards. After a brief stay in the city, they moved to Kolkata and various locations in North 24 Parganas district, spending approximately three months there before returning to Tripura.
Upon their return, the men took shelter at the residence of a local agent named Islam in West Chandrapur. Police sources confirmed that Islam, believed to be instrumental in facilitating their entry into India, remains at large.
The detained individuals have been identified as Mohammad Nur Alam, Raihan Mia, and Mahiuddin—all residents of Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh. They were taken to the Dharmanagar police station for further questioning.
Authorities allege that Islam charged ₹12,000 per person to smuggle them across the border. A full-scale investigation is now underway to trace other members of the cross-border trafficking network.
