Tripura to Celebrate 150 Years of Vande Mataram with Statewide Events: CM Dr Manik Saha

Agartala, November 6, 2025: Tripura is set to join the nation in commemorating the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, the revered patriotic anthem composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. In a video message to the people, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended warm greetings and urged citizens to actively engage in the historic observance.

Speaking to the public in a video message, Dr. Saha highlighted the enduring legacy of Vande Mataram, written in 1875, noting its profound role in inspiring generations to serve Bharat Mata. He hailed the song as “the world’s greatest hymn to the motherland,” underscoring its power to awaken the spirit of sacrifice and freedom across time.

The milestone anniversary falls on 7 November 2025, marking the beginning of a year-long nationwide celebration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuing through 7 November 2026.

Tripura will launch its commemorative program with a central event in the state capital on the anniversary day. Districts and subdivisions across the state will hold dignified ceremonies, while government offices and educational institutions will pay tribute to the anthem’s legacy.

Dr. Saha called on every resident to participate wholeheartedly, emphasizing the emotional and patriotic resonance of Vande Mataram. He encouraged citizens to share photos and videos of their involvement on official platforms to foster a collective sense of national pride.

Describing the song as a symbol of India’s national identity and dignity, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the celebrations would galvanize public spirit and contribute to the vision of a developed India, echoing the Prime Minister’s call for a “Viksit Bharat.”
