Agartala, July 26, 2025: A new cricket stadium is set to be developed in Sabroom, South Tripura district with land already approved for the project, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced on Saturday.
Speaking at a felicitation and annual reunion event of the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) in Agartala, Dr. Saha said, “The state government has approved land from the Education Department for developing a new cricket stadium at Sabroom. The Tripura Cricket Association will take up the construction.”
Highlighting the growing enthusiasm for cricket in the state, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of structured training facilities. “We must establish a state cricket academy to ensure proper training for our players. The government will extend all necessary support to make this happen,” he said.
Calling cricket one of the most celebrated sports in India, Dr. Saha praised the efforts of the TCA in nurturing local talent. He also noted his longstanding association with the organization and urged all stakeholders to actively work towards promoting cricket across Tripura.
The event was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Chairperson of Tripura Human Rights Commission Justice Arindam Lodh, TCA President Tapan Lodh, and other dignitaries.
