Agartala, November 10, 2025: The Tripura Traffic Police have stepped up their campaign against vehicles using modified silencers as part of a special drive to curb noise and environmental pollution across the state.
Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kanta Jangir said on Monday that regular checks are being carried out, and strict action is being taken against offenders. “We have undertaken a special drive on a regular basis. After obtaining court permission, around 410 modified bike silencers have been destroyed,” SP Jangir informed.
She explained that such modifications not only violate traffic laws but also contribute significantly to noise pollution and public health hazards. “Many riders use these silencers, especially during early morning and evening hours, creating disturbance in residential areas. We urge young riders to think twice before installing them,” she added.
The SP further cautioned that violators could face bike seizure, a penalty of ₹10,000, imprisonment, and even suspension of their driving licence.
Reiterating the department’s commitment to road safety and environmental protection, Jangir said the enforcement drive will continue across all districts to ensure a peaceful and disciplined traffic environment in Tripura.
