Agartala, June 09, 2025: A tragic road accident has sent shockwaves through the Golaghati Bazar area under Takarajala police station after a local teacher was killed in a hit-and-run incident on Monday afternoon.
The deceased, Kartik Das, a resident of Madhya Ghaniamara near SB School, was returning home from school on his scooty when the accident occurred. According to eyewitnesses, a rubber-laden Bolero vehicle coming from the opposite direction lost control and struck the teacher near the Kali temple on the Takarajala-Jampuijala road.
“The vehicle came at high speed and rammed into the scooty. Before anyone could react, it fled the scene,” said a local resident who rushed to the spot after hearing a loud crash.
The impact of the collision left Kartik Das lying on the road in a pool of blood. Alarmed locals immediately rushed to his aid and transported him to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Tragically, the attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.
“We tried our best, but he had already succumbed to his injuries by the time he reached the hospital,” said a doctor on duty.
The body of the deceased has been kept in the morgue of the Bishalgarh hospital for post-mortem examination. As news of the incident spread, grief-stricken family members rushed to the hospital, overwhelmed by the sudden loss.
Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the Bolero vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run. Local residents have demanded strict action and increased vigilance on the accident-prone stretch of road.
