Agartala, February 5, 2026: Acting on a tip-off, West Police Station officers conducted a late-night raid near Pragati School and arrested two alleged drug peddlers with heroin. The arrests sparked widespread sensation in the locality.

The accused have been identified as Bunty Nayek and Sujit Roy, both residents of Radhanagar. Police sources revealed that the duo had been involved in illegal drug trade in and around the Pragati School area for a considerable period.

According to police, the group primarily targeted local youth, selling heroin and other narcotics. After receiving credible intelligence, officers carried out surveillance and launched the operation late Wednesday night.

During the raid, police detained the two suspects and recovered a significant quantity of heroin from their possession, valued at over ₹1 lakh in the local market. The seized narcotics have been confiscated.

West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee stated that interrogation of the accused has already yielded crucial information about the wider drug network. He expressed confidence that more arrests would follow, as investigators probe who else is linked to the racket, the sources of supply, and the areas of distribution.

On Thursday, the accused were produced in court with a request for police remand. Authorities confirmed that the investigation has been intensified and assured that stronger measures will be taken in the ongoing anti-narcotics drive.
