Agartala, July 28, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Tripura Police arrested two women on Monday with heroin valued at around ₹10 lakh in Agartala. The arrests were made during a special operation launched by East Agartala Police based on precise intelligence inputs.
Addressing the media persons here in Agartala city on Monday morning, West Tripura District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Kiran Kumar said the operation was carried out in the Bankumari locality. “Nine plastic containers filled with heroin were recovered from the accused, weighing a total of 97 grams,” he said, adding that the seized contraband has a market value of nearly ₹10 lakh.
The arrested women have been identified as Rosna Begum (35) and Kolsom Begum (24), both residents of Sepahijala district. Preliminary investigation revealed that the duo had recently arrived in the state capital from Silchar, Assam.
Police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. “The accused will be produced before the court, and we will seek police remand to interrogate them further and uncover the wider drug supply chain,” the SP said.
