Tripura: Two Youths Arrested for Alleged Rape of Minor Girl near Udaipur Railway Station

Agartala, August 22, 2025: Tripura Police have arrested two youths in connection with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl near Udaipur Railway Station on Thursday evening. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Radhakishorpur Women’s Police Station.

According to police sources, Mithun Debnath (24), a resident of Mohanbhog in Sepahijala district allegedly lured the minor girl into a Maruti Suzuki WagonR car bearing registration number TR07-3545 and drove her to the railway station area around 7 pm. There, he and another youth reportedly assaulted the girl inside the vehicle.

The suspects were intercepted at approximately 10 p.m. during a routine check at Kakraban Police Station’s Naka point while returning to Mohanbhog. Officers detained the two youths and the minor girl, and seized the vehicle. Upon questioning, the girl disclosed details of the assault, prompting authorities to alert Radhakishorpur Women’s Police Station.

On Friday, the victim informed her family, who subsequently filed a written complaint. Acting on the report, police conducted an inspection of the vehicle at the alleged crime scene later that afternoon.

“We have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The minor has been sent for medical examination following all legal protocols. The investigation is underway,” said Sub-Inspector Ruby Baidya, the investigating officer.

The case has been registered as FIR No. 30/2025 under sections 641/61(2) Bns and the POCSO Act. Authorities have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice for the victim.
