Agartala, May 16, 2025: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Dharmanagar Police on Friday arrested two youths with 22 grams of heroin based on a secret tip-off.
According to Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station, Smriti Kantha Bardhan, police had prior information that two individuals were planning to transport narcotics on a scooty. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, a team of officers led by Bardhan reached the Dighal Bak area around 4 PM.
“A scooty entering the area raised our suspicion. Upon searching the vehicle, we recovered two packets containing a total of 22 grams of heroin,” Bardhan stated.
The two accused have been identified as Rohan Shukla Baidya and Rajdeep Chasha, both residents of Mahakumar Algapur area of Dharmanagar. They were immediately taken into custody.
“A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to uncover the network behind this operation,” Bardhan added.
Police sources confirmed that efforts are ongoing to trace the source of the heroin and other individuals possibly linked to the smuggling racket.
