Agartala, October 13, 2022 : The indigenous villagers of Tripura’s Ampi RD Block in Gomati district on Thursday blocked Teliamura-Amarpur road at Ampi nagar demanding Kokborok-speaking problem as the inhabitants are facing a massive language problem while communicating with doctors in the local Community Health Centre.
Demanding an immediate efficient Kokborok-speaking doctor for Ampi CHC, angry villagers of Ampi nagar staged a road blockade on Teliamura-Amarpur road here at Ampi nagar on Thursday.
As per the report, the rural indigenous inhabitants from different remote areas under Ampi nagar RD block do not get proper medical service at present from this Ampi CHC as those indigenous people are not able to speak Bengali language over their diseases with doctors when they come to avail medical service in the healthcare institution.
Among the four doctors, one tribal doctor named Reason Debbarma was here in the hospital but he was transferred recently. Now only three Bengali-speaking doctors are here who fail to understand Kokborok language. So, in this circumstance, the rural villagers are facing problems interacting with doctors over their physical problems.
The local indigenous people of Ampi nagar have demanded restoration of Dr Reason Debbarma or to appoint any other Kokborok-speaking doctor immediately to generate appreciable medical management in Ampi nagar’s Community Health Centre.
