Agartala, July 16, 2025: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Tripura Police recovered one lakh Yaba tablets worth approximately ₹10 crore during a naka-checking operation in the 41 Mile area of Atharomura Hills under Mungiakami Police Station in Khowai District on Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted while officers were carrying out routine checking in the area. During the process, a passenger auto-rickshaw bearing registration number TR01M3624, en route from Ambassa to Agartala, was intercepted. Upon inspection, officers detected a strong medicinal odor emanating from the vehicle, raising suspicion.
Acting promptly, the naka-checking team alerted the Officer-in-Charge of Mungiakami Police Station and Teliamura Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Pannalal Sen. A joint team comprising the SDPO, Mungiakami Police Station OC, and a Magistrate from the Sub-Divisional Administration rushed to the spot and carried out a thorough search of the vehicle.
The team uncovered a secret chamber beneath the driver’s seat, from where they seized one lakh Yaba tablets. The driver identified as Bikash Deb and his accomplice Suman Majumdar were immediately taken into custody.
Speaking to the media, SDPO Pannalal Sen confirmed the seizure and said, “The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba tablets is around ₹10 crore. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and network behind this consignment.”
