Agartala, March 24, 2026: Agartala police detained a youth with firearms during a routine search at Agartala Railway Station on Tuesday morning. Officers from the GRPS police station recovered a pistol, two magazines, and two live rounds from his possession.
According to police sources, the suspect was apprehended after his behavior raised suspicion during the inspection. Upon questioning, the youth identified himself as Subrata Dutta, a resident of Madhupur police station area. He confessed to bringing the pistol from Bihar by train, allegedly planning to sell it in Madhupur.
Following the arrest, GRPS Station Officer-in-Charge Raju Bhowmik informed senior authorities and called in a forensic team, which has since begun its investigation. Police confirmed that Subrata Dutta will be produced before court on Wednesday, with a request for police remand. Authorities are also probing whether others are involved in the case.
