Agartala, December 19, 2025: Agartala witnessed intense demonstrations on Friday as members of the Youth Tipra Federation (YTF) staged a protest against recent remarks from Bangladesh’s National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah, who allegedly threatened to separate India’s northeastern states from the country.

The protest took place in the Circuit House area, where YTF activists blocked roads and raised slogans condemning Abdullah’s statement. Leaders present at the demonstration described the remarks as “unfortunate and provocative,” warning that such rhetoric not only damages bilateral relations but also poses a threat to regional peace and stability.

YTF leaders reminded protesters that Bangladesh was born in 1971 with India’s full support, and that the country’s independence was possible only because of India’s historic assistance. They argued that maintaining friendly and cordial ties with India is in Bangladesh’s best interest.

In a sharper warning, leaders of the Tripura Students’ Federation (TSF) declared that if Bangladesh continues to issue threats against India and fails to uphold friendly relations, they could respond by demanding the separation of Cox’s Bazar beach from Bangladesh to form a “Tipra Land Beach.”

The entire Circuit House area was placed under tight security during the protest. Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak confirmed that adequate forces had been deployed to prevent any untoward incidents and that the situation was being closely monitored.
