Agartala, September 3, 2025: Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Deputy Speaker and Surjyamaninagar MLA Ram Prasad Paul on Wednesday inaugurated 16 newly built stalls along the Ramthakur Ashram CC Road near Moloynagar Gram Panchayat Bypass and Nagicherra Bypass, in a move aimed at creating livelihood opportunities for the unemployed.

The initiative, supported by the Block Chairman and Panchayat members, drew strong grassroots participation. The stalls are expected to open fresh avenues of self-employment for local youth and small traders.

Speaking at the event, MLA Paul stressed the government’s focus on self-reliance and entrepreneurship. “Our government stresses on self-reliance. Youths must not only sit back and hope for government jobs but try to earn a good livelihood by other means,” he said. Highlighting Central and State schemes, he pointed to easy loan facilities as a way for youth to explore diverse sectors beyond traditional employment.

Taking a swipe at the previous Left regime, Paul linked the crisis of 10,323 retrenched teachers to what he termed as “administrative corruption.” “We are not giving government jobs to our party karyakartas or selling jobs. We believe in transparency, and those with merit are getting jobs,” he asserted.

Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, who also addressed the gathering, called on the youth to embrace entrepreneurship. “Don’t sit idle hoping for government jobs. Start something of your own and become an employer,” he urged.
