Agartala, June 28, 2025: In a landmark achievement for Tripura and the entire North-East, Dr. Arijit Das, a native of Uttar Kacherghat in Kailashahar, has brought international recognition to the state as his scholarly works have been included in the prestigious libraries of both Oxford and Harvard Universities.

Currently serving as the Head and Associate Professor of the Chemistry Department at Bir Bikram Memorial College (BBMC), Agartala, Dr. Das’ book “Innovative Mnemonics in Chemical Education: A Handbook for Classroom Lectures” and several of his international research papers have been archived in the Bodleian Library of the University of Oxford and the HOLLIS Digital Archive of Harvard University in the United States.

This is the first time a scholar from Tripura has achieved such a rare academic distinction, marking a significant milestone in the state’s educational history. Dr. Das’ work focuses on simplifying complex concepts in chemistry through the use of mnemonics—memory-enhancing techniques that make learning easier and more engaging. His research papers delve into advanced pedagogical approaches to topics such as hybridization, charge analysis, and IUPAC nomenclature.

Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Das stated, “This recognition is a proud chapter in my life. I dedicate it to my students, colleagues, and every education-loving person of Tripura. I hope it inspires young researchers and educators across our state.”

Known affectionately as ‘Baboon’ in his childhood by locals, Dr. Das’ journey from the narrow lanes of Kailashahar to two of the world’s most revered academic institutions has become a symbol of aspiration and perseverance. Educationists across the region have hailed his contribution as groundbreaking, particularly for chemical education and academic innovation in the North-East.

His achievement is not only a personal triumph but also a source of pride for Tripura, placing the state’s academic excellence on the global map.
