Agartala, August 30, 2025: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and CPI(M) ex-Politburo member Manik Sarkar on Saturday accused the ruling BJP of adopting “vote tactics” and unleashing anti-people policies across the country. He was addressing a blood donation camp organised by the DYFI Jogendranagar Local Committee in Agartala city’s peripheries to mark the 25th martyrdom day of CPI(M) leader Dr. Ajit Roy Chowdhury.

Remembering the late leader at the Vidyasagar Party Office, Sarkar was joined by MLA Ramu Das and several other CPI(M) leaders. “For the last 11 years, the RSS-controlled BJP government at the Centre has been carrying out all kinds of anti-people activities. Tripura has been pushed into a state of anarchy. The BJP is attacking workers, daily wage earners, minorities, farmers, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Hindus, Muslims and others. This is not a sign of strength, but a sign of weakness,” Sarkar said.

He alleged that the BJP, despite its “Abki Baar 400 Paar” slogan in the last Lok Sabha polls, could not secure a majority on its own and was forced to rely on allies after winning 240 seats. “The government is now running on borrowed shoulders,” Sarkar remarked sarcastically.

The former CM further alleged manipulation in the electoral process, citing the recent exclusion of nearly 65 lakh names, mostly from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minority communities, in the first draft of Bihar’s voter list revision. “This is nothing but BJP’s attempt to silence the opposition and push forward with voter manipulation,” he said, adding that protests have erupted across India against such moves.

Sarkar reiterated that the BJP is using “voter tactics as a weapon” to cling to power while ignoring the real issues faced by the people.
