Agartala, December 26, 2025: In a strong boost to women-led entrepreneurship in Tripura, Khachuk Chocolate, the state’s first large-scale chocolate brand produced by women Self-Help Group (SHG) members, has recorded sales of Rs 2.61 lakh within just 12 days of its debut.

The brand was launched at the Saras Mela held in International Fair Ground, Hapania earlier this month and was formally inaugurated by Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu as part of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) initiative. Since its introduction, Khachuk Chocolate offered in milk and original variants has received an enthusiastic response from visitors, indicating growing demand for locally produced, value-added food products.

Manufactured by SHG members from the Rupaichari RD Block in South Tripura, the chocolate represents a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern enterprise. With technical and marketing support from TRLM, the women entrepreneurs have succeeded in creating a competitively priced product while ensuring quality and distinct local identity.

Officials associated with the mission said the swift sales growth highlights the capacity of grassroots enterprises to succeed in the mainstream market when provided with institutional support. They added that Khachuk Chocolate has emerged as a symbol of women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihood generation in rural Tripura.

The encouraging performance of the brand is expected to pave the way for similar SHG-led initiatives under TRLM, strengthening income opportunities for rural women and promoting Tripura’s indigenous products on a wider platform.
