Agartala, August 15, 2025: Tripura’s Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury marked the 79th Independence Day with a call to uphold constitutional values and strengthen national unity.

Participating in the celebrations, Chaudhury hoisted the national flag and paid homage to freedom fighters and forefathers who laid down their lives for the nation’s independence.

Reflecting on India’s journey since 1947, he said that while the country has made significant progress, the pursuit of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity must continue. He reminded citizens that the Constitution — beginning with the words “We the people of India” — remains the guiding force that binds the nation together.

“Our diversity is our strength, but it must never become a source of division or discrimination,” Chaudhury cautioned, warning that “the idea of India is under threat” and that safeguarding it is a shared duty of all citizens.

Advocating for inclusive governance, he stressed that development should benefit every section of society, regardless of region, religion, caste, or creed. “Only through unity and equality can we truly honour the sacrifices of our forefathers,” he said.
