Agartala, December 10, 2025: The Airport Director of Tripura’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Krishan Mohan Nehra, on Wednesday affirmed that the facility’s infrastructure is fully equipped to support round-the-clock domestic and international flight operations.
Speaking to media personnel at ATS Building of MBB Airport in Agartala city on Wednesday afternoon, Director KM Nehra stated “Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, Agartala, has intensified passenger support measures in response to widespread disruptions in Indigo’s flight operations between 29 November and 9 December 2025, during which 39 flights were cancelled.”
He said that the airport has been working in coordination with all stakeholders to minimize passenger inconvenience. “Our teams have been on the ground round the clock to support affected travellers. We immediately mobilised additional resources to manage the situation effectively,” he stated.
To address overcrowding and ensure comfort, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) Agartala team arranged extra seating both inside and outside the terminal. Enhanced sanitation protocols were deployed, with special focus on restroom hygiene. The airport also ensured uninterrupted availability of drinking water, snacks, and beverages, while directing all food outlets to operate until the last flight of the day and maintain stable pricing.
According to updates shared by Indigo Airlines, baggage delivery for all impacted flights has been completed, and refunds for cancellations up to 9 December have been processed. Nehra confirmed that operational performance has improved significantly: “The On Time Performance of Indigo was affected initially, but they have maintained 100 percent OTP at MBB Airport since 7 December.”
To accommodate stranded travellers, Indigo is operating an additional Delhi-bound flight today. All other airlines at the airport are functioning normally.
At present, MBB Airport handles the movement of 10 Indigo flights, along with three Air India Express and one Akasa flight.
Reaffirming the airport’s operational capacity, Director Nehra added: “We are capable of running 24×7 flight services for both domestic and international operations.”
