Agartala, May 26, 2025: Food, Tourism and Transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury launched a scathing attack on the state opposition CPIM accusing them of supporting Naxalite extremists.

Speaking at the Mann Ki Baat program at booth number 6 in the Banamalipur assembly constituency on Sunday, the minister said that the opposition party has never upheld patriotism and instead aligned itself with forces against national interest.

“After independence, Naxalite violence has shaken several states. These extremists have killed our soldiers and political leaders. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared that Naxals will be wiped out by 2025. But at a time when the country is trying to eradicate this menace, CPIM is openly speaking in their favor,” said Chowdhury.

He emphasized that such a stance is proof of the opposition’s lack of patriotism. “They ruled Tripura for 25 years and created a climate that fostered this very ideology. These people can never be patriotic. They oppose the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and label us anti-democratic. People must recognize and judge them for what they are,” he added.

Drawing parallels between Naxalism and foreign-backed extremism, the minister stated, “Naxalism is no less than Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. It distorts the people’s mindset and hampers development. We must fight this ideology, and the current government has committed itself to this fight.”

Reflecting on his political journey, Chowdhury said, “I was once in a different party and made promises, but couldn’t bring change. It is under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that transformation has truly taken place. Tripura is now marching ahead alongside other developed states.”

The program was also attended by local Mandal leaders and supporters from the Banamalipur assembly constituency.
