Agartala, October 17, 2025: In what is being hailed as a historic moment in Tripura’s entertainment landscape, a human portrayal of Maa Tripureshwari, the revered deity of the 500-year-old Tripura Sundari temple has been featured for the first time on screen using prosthetic make-up. The portrayal appears in a seven-minute pre-Diwali music video that has captivated audiences across the state.

Actress Namita Debnath brought the divine mother to life with the help of intricate prosthetic artistry, while Anirban Bhowmik, a popular social media content creator from Udaipur, played the role of a devout follower. The video, which narrates the tale of a poor yet pious youth who remains steadfast in his faith despite life’s adversities, culminates in a moving divine encounter where the goddess reassures her devotee of her eternal presence.

“The prosthetic make-up was designed to replicate the exact appearance of the deity worshipped at the temple. We added a few behind-the-scenes shots at the end to make viewers realize it was achieved through human effort, not VFX or AI. The audience’s appreciation has been overwhelming,” said Anirban Bhowmik, who also directed and produced the project.

However, Anirban shared that the concept of the music video had been on his mind for nearly two years, and he was finally able to bring it to fruition after first discussing and sharing the idea with his elder brother, singer Kishan Das.

Before filming, the team performed religious rituals to preserve the sanctity of the process. The music video also features Matabari MLA Abhisek Debroy in a cameo role.

The project showcases an impressive creative lineup — cinematography, editing, and VFX by Adarsh Ray, make-up by Glamour World under Mitadru Sengupta, and music composed and sung by Kishan Das with lyrics by Saikat Sarkar. The video’s ensemble cast includes several local talents.

The release comes ahead of the three-day annual Tripureshwari Temple Festival, scheduled from October 19 to 21, coinciding with Diwali. The temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, recently saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurate new infrastructure during his visit on September 22.
