Agartala, August 30, 2025: In celebration of National Sports Day, Panisagar Sports School held a felicitation ceremony on Friday afternoon in the conference hall of Panisagar College of Physical Education, felicitating one of its brightest young athletes Remika Reang.

Remika, a ninth-grade student at Panisagar Sports School has been selected to participate in the final selection trials for the Under-16 Girls’ National Football Team organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in Hyderabad, Telangana. The trials are scheduled to begin on September 1 and if selected, Remika will earn a coveted spot on the national squad.

Hailing from Daincherra village in the Kanchanpur subdivision of North Tripura, Remika comes from a humble background. Her father Jatindra Reang works as a daily wage laborer. Despite limited resources, Remika has shown exceptional talent and dedication to both academics and sports since childhood, earning her place at the prestigious Panisagar Sports School.

School authorities revealed that Remika made a mark at the 2024 National Meet held in Madhya Pradesh, where her performance impressed coaches, officials, and selectors. Following her standout display, she was shortlisted by the national selection board for the Under-16 girls’ category. Out of 21 players chosen from across the Northeast, Remika is the sole representative from Tripura.

Remika Reang, a promising footballer from Tripura Sports School in Panisagar, has earned an invitation to the AIFF-FIFA Under-16 Girls Talent Academy trials in Hyderabad, an achievement that shines a spotlight on Tripura’s growing presence in national football.

Her journey has inspired many across the state, especially in the tribal and underprivileged communities. Coaches and well-wishers are hopeful that she will shine on the national stage and bring pride to Tripura. The state’s sports department and government have extended full support to ensure her participation in the trials, covering all expenses through official channels.
