Agartala, November 11, 2025: In a proud moment for Tripura, Sepahijala District has been adjudged the Best District in the 6th National Water Awards 2024. The announcement was made by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Paatil, at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi.
The awards, instituted by the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, recognize outstanding efforts in water conservation and management across 10 categories. A total of 46 winners, including joint awardees, were selected from 751 applications received nationwide.
The award ceremony will be held on 18th November 2025 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where President of India Droupadi Murmu will confer the honours.
Launched in 2018, the National Water Awards aim to promote best practices in water resource management and to realize the vision of a ‘Jal Samridh Bharat’ (Water Prosperous India).
