Agartala, April 21, 2026: The Annual General Meeting of the Tripura Tourism Development Forum (TTDF) was held at city-based star hotel in Agartala on Tuesday, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on the growth and future roadmap of the state’s tourism industry.

The meeting was attended by Rajib Bhattacharjee, Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar, TTDF President Parikshit Dey, along with other prominent personalities.

Detailed discussions were held on the current status, untapped potential, and strategic plans for the tourism sector. Participants stressed the need for enhanced infrastructure, improved connectivity, and the identification of new tourist destinations to make Tripura a more attractive destination for visitors.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines, Rajib Bhattacharjee noted that the North-Eastern region had long remained underdeveloped in the years following independence. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focused efforts have been made to ensure holistic development in the region, opening new avenues of growth for states like Tripura.

He added that the State Government has been actively working to strengthen the tourism sector, resulting in improved infrastructure and modernization of tourist destinations. This, he said, has led to a noticeable rise in tourist footfall from outside the state.

Highlighting recent developments, the MP mentioned that the visit of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty to the revered Mata Tripureshwari Temple has brought renewed attention to the state’s tourism potential.

Bhattacharjee further informed that plans are underway to identify and develop new tourist sites, ensuring they are modern and visitor-friendly. Other speakers at the meeting also underscored the importance of placing Tripura firmly on the national tourism map.

Observers believe that the deliberations and outcomes of the meeting will play a significant role in shaping the future trajectory of Tripura’s tourism industry.
