Security forces arrested two active members of the banned KCP (MFL) outfit from Imphal West district on Wednesday in connection with alleged extortion activities in the region.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thangjam Goutam Singh (19) and Diamond Chingshubam (24), both residents of Khabi Mamang Leikai under Imphal West district.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security personnel conducted coordinated early morning raids at their respective residences and apprehended the duo without any reported incident. Family members were present during the search operations.

According to officials, the arrests were part of a broader drive to curb the activities of proscribed groups and prevent extortion-related offences in the district. Security forces moved swiftly to detain the suspects before they could evade arrest or destroy potential evidence.

During the operation, a Royal Enfield Meteor motorcycle bearing registration number MN04G-2108 was seized from their possession. Two mobile handsets and an Aadhaar card were also confiscated. Authorities believe the seized mobile phones may contain crucial information related to the extortion network, and forensic analysis will be carried out to trace communications with other members of the banned organisation.

Officials stated that the operation was executed smoothly without any resistance. However, no further details have been disclosed regarding the extent of the duo’s involvement or possible links to other members of the outfit.
Both accused remain in custody as part of the initial phase of investigation. Security forces have indicated that further inquiry is underway and that interrogation of the arrested cadres is expected to provide more insight into the structure and operations of KCP (MFL) in Imphal West district.

Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate and share any information that may assist in dismantling extortion rackets operating in the area. The investigation remains active, and further updates are expected as the probe progresses.
