Security forces arrested two individuals in separate anti-narcotics operations carried out on January 17 in Imphal West and Thoubal districts, leading to the recovery of over 283 grams of heroin and other controlled substances, officials said.

In Imphal West district, personnel arrested Khulakpam Ayajuddin (41) from Bengoon Loukok Mayai Leikai under the jurisdiction of Mayang Imphal Police Station. Six soap cases containing Heroin No. 4, weighing a total of 283.2 grams, were seized from his possession. Officials stated that the quantity recovered indicates involvement in organised drug trafficking rather than personal consumption.

In a separate operation in Thoubal district, Md. Riyash Khan (31) was arrested from his residence at Sangaiyumpham Nungpou Mathak Leikai under Thoubal Police Station. During the search, security personnel recovered 13 bottles of Delstal cough syrup, 33 bottles of Berrycof cough syrup, a box containing nine strips and three loose tablets of Nitrazepam, along with a mobile phone and other documents.

Officials said the arrests form part of intensified drives against narcotics and controlled substances across the state. Further investigation is underway to trace supply networks and possible links connected to the seized contraband.
